Old Wives' Tales

So, I'm still obsessing over the sex of the baby, but doing it quietly, to myself. I keep thinking that if it was a girl, even if her legs were together and piked, they should have been able to see labia right? but they couldn't. So if a male legs are together and piked, it would be easy to hide testicles and a penis, right? LOL

I'm so pathetic.

So, I'm looking at the old wives' tales about telling the sex of your baby. The only one that has been right for us every single time is the "ring test" of dangling a wedding ring over the belly and seeing if it swings back and forth or in a circle. We tried to do it around 14 weeks, but it was confused and inconclusive. I figured I maybe wasn't far enough along.

You are carrying the extra weight out front, so it's a boy.
The hair on your legs is not growing any faster during your preganacy, so it's a girl.
Boys are carried low. You are going to have a boy.
Sleeping in a bed with your pillow to the north indicates that you will be having a boy.
Your feet are not colder than they were before pregnancy. You are having a girl.
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread. You are having a girl.
Dad-to-be hasn't been gaining weight along with Mom-to-be, so it will be a girl.
The maternal grandmother doesn't have gray hair (dyed or natural), so a girl will be born.
You had morning sickness early in pregnancy, so you are expecting a girl.
You are looking particularly good during pregnancy. Therefore, it must be a boy, because girls steal their mother's looks.
Your chest development has not been very dramatic during pregnancy. You should expect a boy.
Since the sum of the mother's age at conception and the number of the month of conception is even, it will be a boy.
A needle on a thread held over you belly moves from side-to-side, so it will be a girl.
Your urine is a bright neon yellow color, so you will have a boy.
You have a craving for salty or sour foods, which means that it is a boy.
Your nose hasn't changed during pregnancy, which indicates a girl.
You have been craving fruits, so it is a girl.
Your baby's heart rate is 140 or more beats per minute, so it's a girl.
You must have orange juice every day, so it's a girl.
You are not having headaches, so it's a girl.
Your belly looks like a basketball, so it's a boy.
You show them the palm of your hand, so it's a girl.
You use the handle (of a mug), so it's a boy.

The funny thing is -- needles hung over my boys hands goes back and forth and the girls go in circles -- and I have more headaches with girls than with boys. My morning sickness is less with the boys and lasted longer this time, but was less intense. I have gained more weight than usual for a girl (19 pounds already!)

So, for whatever fun that might be.....

Tiff, maybe I'm making all these girls so there will be lovely, godly women for your boys to marry someday? Seven brides for seven brothers or something like that? ;-)
