Death and Taxes

Are the two certain things in life. But we actually look forward to tax time. See, since we suck totally at saving money, we claim one less exemption than we are entitled to (and we're entitled to a lot, as you know!) so that more tax is withheld than necessary. I KNOW this is poor financial planning, letting the gubment use our money all year for free, but it's the best we can do right now!

So, I started our taxes last night and we are getting a nice and hefty chunk back. It will cover the Visa bill and the laptop I put on financing this year with a tich left over for buying baby stuff. HOO-HA.

That will at least put us back at ground zero with no huge debts hanging over our heads!

The year before last, the tax return paid for PreacherMan and I to go to Sandals resort in St. Lucia for our 16th anniversary. It was our first trip more than overnight since our honeymoon. And yes, it was as fabulous as it looks. We had the time of our lives. We actually left 4 days after my miscarriage, and the trip was a nice way to recover.

Once PreacherMan gets a job actually being a PreacherMan, we won't be getting any more tax returns. So, we better save some of it next year, so we can at least give each other a present for our 20th anniversary, right?
