I got a call last night from the mom of the blue baby. He had been taken off the vent at about 4 PM yesterday.
This morning, he was allowed to nurse, and he did latch on and nurse successfully. They are removing his arterial line today also. He maintained his blood gasses during the night.
They are hopeful to take him home in the next couple of days. This is an answer to prayer! I am so glad that this family will finally get to take their baby home.

Praise God! I read what you wrote about him just last night and prayed a lot last night after I got off of here. I was trying not to cry, I can't imagine something like that. Too bad the poor angel had to be put through that, and for no reason it sounds like.
I am so glad and I am sure his mother is relieved to finally be able to nurse him. Thank you so much for the update, I was hoping for one when I popped on this blog.
As for you wondering about the gender of your baby, you sound like me:) I was NUTS when I was pregnant, I think it is totally normal. Your belly looks adorable and I am very happy for you guys! Can't wait to see pictures of this baby and hear how it all went.
